Northwest Suburban Conference rivals, the Blaine Bengals and Centennial Cougars have a strong history of competing with each other.
They faced off in a border battle that took place on Monday, April 14, at Centennial High School, with the Cougars having home field advantage.
In recent years, Blaine defeated the Cougars in 2018, but since then, the Cougars have remained victorious over the Bengals ever since… until April 14.
The Bengals scored a total of 8 goals off of 19 shots to defeat the Cougars 8-5. Brooklyn Hedberg and Cierra Ledeen each scored 3 goals for Blaine. Emmy Loo and Hope Moore each added a goal to up the total to 8. Allison Sculthrop led the team in assists with 3 for the evening.
Goalie Olive Heugel had a save percentage of 72%, stopping 13 shots to help lead the Bengals to victory.

Honorable Mention Game
Rosemount Girls Lacrosse defeated Orono Girls Lacrosse in a close game that took place on Friday, April 18. The powerhouse lacrosse programs played a fierce competition with the final score being 14-12, with the Rosemount Irish coming out victorious.
After defeating Orono, the Irish are now undefeated with a record of 3-0.
The top goal scorer for the Irish was Izzy Mronczenski with 4 goals against the Spartans.
