The Maple Grove Crimson have continued to prove their dominance in MSHSL Girls Lacrosse again this season.
In a recent match-up against Benilde St. Margaret’s (BSM) that has been a dominant force in the league consistently, the Crimson proved they are a force to be reckoned with.
The two teams played in a tough game on Friday, April 25, with Maple Grove hosting the BSM Red Knights.
Maple Grove’s victory came in the 3rd quarter when they out scored the Red Knights 3-1, the biggest score differential of the game.
While it was not a high scoring game, the defense and goalies had their work cut out for them. Maple Grove’s goalie, Kiersten Iverson, faced 11 shots and saved 7 of them. Iverson’s save percentage for the game was 63.6%.
Benilde’s goalie, Emelin Downey, faced 15 shots, and saved 7 of them. Downey’s save percentage was 46.7% that evening.
Four Crimson players scored 2 goals each, totaling 8 goals against BSM. Lillian Iverson, Hadley Kudla, Ryley Dunn, and Ava Kennedy, all got 2 goals.
For BSM, Katie Kroft led the scoring with 2 goals. Charlize Vang and Jun Vang each added 1 goal.
The Crimson won the game with a total score of 8-4.
Honorable Mention Game
Lakeville South defeated familiar foe, Rosemount, 10-8, on Tuesday, April 22, at Lakeville South High School.
Both teams hold spots in the Top 10 ranking in the state according to MNLAXHUB and lax numbers. The Lakeville South Cougars are currently 3-1-0. The Rosemount Irish are currently 5-1-0.
